Super Paradise Beach

Super Paradise Beach is arguably the most famous beach party destination in the world — a sheltered south-facing bay of golden sand and crystal-clear turquoise Aegean water that has hosted some of Europe's most legendary outdoor DJ events since the 1970s. The beach sits at the end of a narrow winding road on the southeastern coast of Mykonos, accessible by road (a steep, scenic drive from Mykonos Town) or by sea (regular water taxis from Platys Gialos and Paradise Beach run throughout the day). The inaccessibility relative to the island's more central beaches creates a self-selecting crowd that comes with serious intent — to swim, to dance, and to experience the specific electric atmosphere that has made Super Paradise a pilgrimage destination for generations of European partygoers.

The beach has always been a stronghold of LGBTQ+ culture on Mykonos, and today operates as one of the most genuinely inclusive party spaces in the Mediterranean — a place where absolute freedom of expression is not just tolerated but celebrated, and where the boundaries between day swimming and night dancing blur in a way that feels specific to this particular stretch of sand. The main beach club, JackieO' Beach (recently renamed but retaining the spirit), plays deep and progressive house from noon onwards, with the energy building steadily towards a late-afternoon peak when the golden light hits the water and the terrace fills to capacity.

The water itself is worth the journey regardless of the parties: a south-facing bay protected from the meltemi wind by the island's hills, Super Paradise offers some of the calmest and clearest swimming conditions on Mykonos. The bay is deep enough to sustain good visibility for snorkelling along the rocky outcrops at either end, and at dawn — before the beach clubs wake up — it transforms into one of the most peaceful and beautiful small bays in the Cyclades.

Getting there: By road from Mykonos Town (15 min by scooter, 20 min by car/taxi) via Paradise Beach — the final descent requires care on a narrow track. By sea: water taxis from Platys Gialos run 10am–8pm during season (€5–8 per person). Best time to visit: June and September for the party atmosphere with slightly more manageable crowds; July–August for peak energy. Arrive by 11am to secure a sunbed.
