Food Spots

Ari Neighborhood Food Scene

About

Away from Sukhumvit's tourist infrastructure and Silom's business crowd, the Ari neighborhood around BTS Ari station is where Bangkok's young creative class lives, works and eats. The streets are relatively quiet, tree-lined and filled with an eclectic mix of Thai street food, Japanese izakayas, Korean BBQ, craft coffee shops and independent boutiques.

The Ari Samphan food market (open evenings) is a good starting point — a covered market with dozens of vendors selling both local staples and more adventurous preparations. Around it, restaurants like Waan Kanom Thai serve traditional Thai sweets rarely found in tourist areas; several excellent northern Thai restaurants serve the region's sour and spicy cuisine. Phahon Yothin Road and its sois are where to wander. Take BTS to Ari station.
